2nd Place Submission - Skills Ontario Competition 3D Digital Game Art

This is my submission for the Skills Ontario 2023 Competition for 3D Digital Game Art which won second place. The rules of this competition were:
- Max poly count of 6000 quads (12k tris)
- Limited to one 2048x2048 texture (or textures that add up to one 2048 texture)
- Must be fully modeled, UV'd, textured and submitted to sketchfab within 8 hours
- Everything must be created by the competitor, image references can be used
- Diorama base is free from restrictions and is meant as a freebie to competitors, but should complement the robot in some way

Going into the competition I knew straight away I wanted to use UDIMs for texturing since the concept itself used modular pieces to assemble the robot, which would make customizing the robot's individual parts much simpler to do in the future. I used four 1024x1024 textures for the head, arms, feet and body and baked/textured it in Substance Painter.

One struggle I ran into during the competition was realizing that Sketchfab does not have native UDIM support, which threw me into a small panic. Luckily I found a workaround by applying different materials to each part of the robot in Maya and exporting it so that I could set the textures on each material in Sketchfab and submit it (with 3 minutes to spare no less!) Thank you to my college for choosing me as a representative for this competition.
